FirstMate was indeed the very  FIRST MANUFACTURER TO PROVIDE A GRAIN-FREE dog food  to the general public through pet food stores.   Our breakthrough potato and fish formulation (Pacific Ocean Fish for All Life Stages for dogs) has been one of the most important contributions for dogs  suffering from allergies to certain proteins such as chicken and various grains .   FirstMate’s  Chicken  with Blueberries has become one of our top diets for dogs,  delivering the antioxidants of blueberries with all their proven health benefits.  

While we are an accomplished manufacturer with exports all over the world (regularly inspected to meet the requirements of both domestic and international food inspection agencies),  we are sensitive enough to respond to the changes and concerns requested by our many customers.    Our grain-free cat food, Renaissance Cat (fish and potato with blueberries) was developed in response to many requests from our customers to provide a grain-free solution for cats as well as dogs.     

We require that each and every ingredient can be traced by bag, by production date to the very farm  from which  it is grown or harvested. Protein sources in FirstMate are limited to Australian lamb meal, Pacific ocean fish from sustainable  fisheries and western Canadian chicken.      Our manufacture-to-order system ensures that our products are always delivered fresh.   

There are two major driving forces  we believe make FirstMate diets  unique.   One is our insistence in pure, top-grade ingredients for production of our formulations.   This is FirstMate’s priority.   For example, we procure only the highest and most expensive fish available in the marketplace.     Second  is our continual upgrade of our plant and investment  in state-of-the-art equipment.    We were the only pet food manufacturer to invest in a Vacuum Infusion System for essential oils.   This means that we cook all our ingredients  at a temperature sufficient heat to kill harmful bacteria.    However, with the Vacuum Infusion System , we  are able to add back and infuse extra vitamins, and minerals along with the omega-3’s and 6’s at low enough temperatures to preserve their biological value.
